“40 volunteers prepared
9,500 meals..”
Maria Frederick, Executive Assistant at Grant Thornton, wanted to get hands-on to support those in need. Maria began volunteering at World Central Kitchen where she helps package meals for the elderly, needy, and homeless.
The World Central Kitchen is a not-for-profit non-governmental organization founded in 2010 by celebrity chef José Andrés. They are working across America to safely distribute individually packaged, fresh meals in communities that need them.
Maria chose The World Central Kitchen because they mobilize quickly to get much needed meals to those most in need. On one day 9,500 meals were prepared by approximately 40 volunteers. “At the start of each shift, volunteers are told where the meals will be going so they know who they are making a difference for.”
