Catherine Hyodo

Executive summary

Cathy is in her 30th year of public accounting experience and is currently the Los Angeles Market Managing Partner. Her career primarily stems from audit; however, she has also provided advisory services to clients ranging from internal control design/compliance to forensic work, and mergers and transaction projects. Cathy recently completed a term on the firm’s Partnership Board.

Cathy’s extensive experience has primarily focused on serving dynamic high growth companies, including new media/digital media, telecommunications, hardware, software, technology services, internet, e-commerce, B to B e-commerce, retail, and licensing companies. Cathy previously led the Media and Entertainment practice in Los Angeles and resided on the firms Technology Industry Leadership group. Cathy has experience working with companies that are emerging to accelerated public filers.   She also has experience working with private equity groups and SPACs including SPAC targets. Through this experience, she developed specialized knowledge of various complex accounting transactions such as revenue recognition, complex debt and equity transactions, purchase accounting and accounting for variable interest entities. She has worked with companies who have direct listed on the public markets and assisted in preparing others for an initial public offering. She is well known for her ability to meet challenges with tenacity and efficiency while balancing risk. She maintains a client ledger of long-standing relationships with many extending over 15 years.

During her career, Cathy received many accolades for her work including the honor of being named one of the top 100 accountants in the Los Angeles area by the Los Angeles Business Journal from 2021-2023.  She has also been named to the business journal’s prestigious “LA 500” list for many years. She has been recognized as a Woman of Influence as well as a Minority Leader of Influence by the LABJ as well as a Women to Watch by the California Society of CPAs. Her recognition also extends to the community through her commitment with the University of Southern California. She is a recipient of numerous leadership awards and the Tommy Trojan Service Award from the Marshall School - USC Leventhal School of Accounting for her contributions and service to her Alma Mater.
