Crain’s Chicago Business names Grant Thornton’s Moises Sanchez a ‘Notable Latino Leader’

CHICAGO — Grant Thornton, one of America’s largest brands of professionals providing end-to-end audit, assurance, tax and advisory services, has a new award winner in Chicago. Moises Sanchez, an Audit partner at Grant Thornton LLP, has been named a “Notable Latino Leader” by Crain’s Chicago Business. The annual awards recognize Latino professionals who have made significant contributions to their organizations and the Chicago community.

This news continues Grant Thornton’s strong momentum in its headquarters city, including several Crain’s accolades. Earlier this year, Arla Lach was appointed the firm’s new Chicagoland leader, and four months later, she was named one of the city’s “Notable Leaders in Accounting.”

“Moises’ caring leadership and extensive industry knowledge are key reasons our firm continues growing in Chicago, and I’m grateful to Crain’s for recognizing his unique impact,” said Lach. “As we wrap up Grant Thornton’s 100th year in business and head into our second century, his personable approach to client service will help us reach even greater heights.”

Sanchez is a lifelong Chicagoan with more than 21 years of audit experience. He joined Grant Thornton in 2019 and has served the firm in a succession of leadership roles, culminating in his appointment as partner last year. Additionally, he is the leader of Grant Thornton’s Professional Services industry team in Chicago and co-leader of the Chicago Not-for-Profit industry team. Nationally, he leads the firm’s law sector team and is widely revered for his focus on mentorship. He also leads Grant Thornton’s giving campaign for United Way of Metro Chicago.

Outside of work, Sanchez is a highly active volunteer for his alma mater, DePaul University. He serves as a volunteer mentor for DePaul students and as a board member for Ledger & Quill: the accounting school’s advisory board. Additionally, he is a member of the board of directors for Park Community Church and a volunteer coach for youth sports in Chicago.

In his words, “I’ll always give back to the city and the profession that have helped me build my career, and by recognizing me, Crain’s is recognizing my support system, too. Thank you to my clients, colleagues and friends in the Chicago community — let’s continue doing great work together.”

Sanchez is a certified public accountant in Illinois and a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois Certified Public Accounting Society. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master of business administration degree from DePaul University.
