South Florida Business Journal recognizes their impact and leadership in the South Florida business community

CHICAGO — Grant Thornton’s Mark Margulies, national managing principal of Tax Services, and Scott Mager, market managing principal of South Florida, have been named to the South Florida Business Journal’s 2025 “Power Leaders 250” list.

This annual recognition celebrates the region’s most influential leaders from top public and private companies who have made significant contributions to South Florida’s business landscape. This marks Margulies’ third consecutive recognition and Mager’s first inclusion to the list.

“South Florida has always been home for me and I’m proud to have played a role in the region’s growth over the past 25 years,” said Margulies. “It’s very fulfilling to give back to the community that has supported me both professionally and personally, and I’m honored to be recognized again alongside such remarkable local leaders.”

Margulies has held various leadership roles at Grant Thornton’s South Florida offices since 1999. Over the last 25 years, he has been a catalyst for the firm’s growth in the region, helping professionals develop their skills while exceeding client expectations. He remains deeply involved in Miami’s philanthropic and business communities, currently serving on the government affairs committee for the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and as a member of the University of Miami’s Citizens Board.

Mager, who has helped shape Grant Thornton’s South Florida offices by focusing on the asset management and private equity industries, as well as fostering a culture of personalized service, expressed his gratitude for the recognition.

“It’s an honor to be named alongside so many influential leaders in South Florida,” he said. “Grant Thornton has been an incredible platform for me to not only help our clients grow, but also to support the development of our people. I’m proud of the culture we’ve cultivated here, and I remain committed to contributing to the continued growth and success of the region.”

Aside from his day-to-day responsibilities at the firm, Mager is actively involved in several nonprofit initiatives, including the Dolphins Cancer Challenge and past roles with the Jason Taylor Foundation and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County.

Margulies holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s in taxation from the University of Miami. Mager earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from the University of Florida.
