Grant Thornton’s Cathy Hyodo named to the LA500 for sixth consecutive year

These honors, awarded by the Los Angeles Business Journal, continue a strong pattern of recognition for the firm’s Los Angeles leader

LOS ANGELES — Cathy Hyodo, Grant Thornton’s market managing principal in Los Angeles, has been named to the LA500 list for the sixth consecutive year. Published by the Los Angeles Business Journal, the annual honors recognize the city’s most accomplished leaders in business, education, philanthropy and healthcare.

This award continues a pattern of recognition for Hyodo: In late 2023, the business journal named her a Woman of Influence and Top 100 Accountant for the third year in a row. Then, earlier this year, she and her Los Angeles teammate Alfredo Castillo — a managing director in the firm’s Tax service line — were both named Leaders of Influence.

In her role as managing principal in her hometown of Los Angeles, Hyodo uses her extensive experience in industries such as digital media, e-commerce, software and more to guide her team’s personalized, high-quality service. An auditor by training, she was previously the assistant Audit practice leader for Southern California. She also led the firm’s Technology Industry practice in Los Angeles, and she was a member of the Grant Thornton Partnership Board.

Outside of work, she remains deeply committed to her alma mater, the University of Southern California (USC). Hyodo has served on the corporate advisory board for USC’s Marshall School of Business since 2020.

“I’ve been Cathy’s teammate for more than 20 years, and she continues finding new ways to motivate her team and deliver top-quality results for our firm’s clients,” said Tony Perazzo, the managing principal of Grant Thornton’s West region. “Her deep industry knowledge is an asset to our people across all our service areas, and I’m looking forward to many more years of success by her side.”

Hyodo shares her colleague’s optimism for the future of Grant Thornton and its clients.

“I’m continuously humbled by the kind support of the Los Angeles Business Journal, and I’m grateful for my amazing teammates for making this recognition possible,” she said. “Our people are providing a level of personalized service that’s needed in every industry we serve, and as our leader in Los Angeles, I’m eager to keep improving every solution we offer to the businesses here and throughout the country.”
