Scenario
Preparing for the next phase of franchise growth
As Scooter’s Coffee continued expanding its national footprint, leadership reached a growth-driven inflection point. With more than 900 locations across the U.S. and a rapidly evolving business model, the company needed to ensure its enterprise systems could scale alongside the brand — without introducing risk to franchise owners or disrupting the customer experience.
This was a signal of growth readiness. Leaders sought greater visibility, consistency and integration across core business functions to support expansion, new formats and increasing operational complexity. At the same time, any change needed to preserve the speed, reliability and simplicity franchisees depend on every day.
Scooter’s Coffee set out to modernize its enterprise foundation in a way that would support continued growth while protecting the franchise model that fueled its success.
Approach
Designing for scale, continuity and franchise realities
Scooter’s Coffee partnered with Grant Thornton to help design an Oracle NetSuite ERP platform aligned to long-term growth rather than short-term replacement. The focus was not simply on deploying new technology, but on how the platform would be implemented and scaled within a franchise-driven business.
Together, the teams prioritized design decisions that emphasized integration reliability, data consistency and operational continuity. Core systems were unified within a single ERP backbone to reduce complexity and improve visibility, while deployment sequencing was planned around real franchise operations.
Testing and rollout were structured deliberately to protect critical ordering, inventory and fulfillment processes. Integration testing was conducted independently from user acceptance testing to identify and resolve downstream dependencies early, reducing risk during go-live.
This franchisee-first approach enabled Scooter’s Coffee to move quickly while maintaining stability — a critical requirement for a brand serving customers at speed across hundreds of locations.
Result
A scalable foundation delivered without disruption
In six months, Scooter’s Coffee successfully deployed a unified ERP platform designed to support its current footprint and scale well beyond 1,000 locations.
