Grant Thornton unites D.C. staff in first zero-waste office

Firm’s largest U.S. office houses more than 1,200 employees

ARLINGTON — Grant Thornton LLP has consolidated its workforce in the Washington, D.C., area in the firm’s MetroDC office – its first zero-waste office in the country.

The office, located at 1000 Wilson Blvd in Arlington, unites staff from other Washington-area locations and is the firm’s largest, by headcount, in the United States.

“It’s exciting to unify our staff in this state-of-the-art space, designed to fit the way we work with each other and endeavor to serve clients – with plenty of opportunity for collaboration and creativity,” said Greg Wallig, Grant Thornton principal and MetroDC-Arlington office leader. “Moreover, this new facility demonstrates Grant Thornton’s ongoing commitment to the UN’s IMPACT 2030 Sustainable Development goals.”

The completed office incorporates new design elements, space-enhancing construction and energy-efficient features. It is also the first Grant Thornton office to offer gender-neutral restrooms. The new space also includes wellness/contemplation rooms, treadmill and standing desks, and a variety of office, conference and teaming rooms to foster collaboration and innovation amongst the firm’s staff and guests.

Carlos Otal, national managing partner of Grant Thornton’s Public Sector practice, added, “Our office’s central location in Arlington county on the banks of the Potomac overlooking the capital is a natural fit for our Public Sector practice. We’re excited to settle into a modern, inclusive and thoughtfully designed space that celebrates the diversity of the more than 1,200 employees serving our equally diverse clients in the geography.”

With the relocation of staff from Alexandria, Va., to Arlington, Grant Thornton has officially closed its Alexandria office.
