James Hughes

James Hughes is a partner in Grant Thornton's Federal Tax Services Group and leads the Financial Services Industry group in the West Region. Backed by the global resources of a leading firm, Hughes brings to each engagement a comprehensive knowledge of tax codes and regulations, as well as a keen ability to apply consistent tax methodologies in order to aid his clients in achieving increased tax-efficiency.

Throughout his 21-year career in public accounting, which includes time spent at both Arthur Andersen and PricewaterhouseCoopers, Hughes has consulted on a wide variety of corporate tax matters. His experience includes advising clients on accounting methods, corporate reorganizations, MAs, accounting for income taxes and accounting for uncertain tax positions (ASC 740), and evaluating individual and state tax planning opportunities.
